Webinar: Blockchain in logistics (Engelstalig)

International shipping is still very much a paper process. Although there are many initiatives for digitizing the documents involved in trade, the adoption of standards has been difficult and the digital shipping ecosystem remains fragmented.

Various corporates, the ports of Rotterdam and Singapore and government organizations are working together on the Global Showcase Digital Transfer of Ownership of the Bill of Lading, using blockchain technology to create a secure electronic bill of lading (eBL) that can be accepted as the equivalent of a paper document. Widely accepted standards for the electronic bill of lading could greatly increase efficiency in logistic supply chains and could save billions of dollars annually (according to research of the Digital Container Shipping Association).
