Open Invitation - Help further develop Blockchain and Mobility

This is an open invitation to anyone who sees (or wants to explore) opportunities for decentralized technology in the mobility industry. Everyone is welcome: mobility providers, to cities, other government agencies, experts and solution providers.

During the “Blockchain & Mobility Week” in June we had a great start, with 172 participants, in exchanging thoughts on the possibilities and opportunities of blockchain and decentralized technologies in the mobility sector. Before, during and after the event we received a lot of positive feedback and ideas. We have collected the input and ideas from the event participants and others that couldn’t join the sessions. It is great to see so many organizations that want to contribute to investigating and building a high quality, secure, fair and sustainable digital mobility infrastructure for the future. For the common good but also as an opportunity for the organizations they are representing.

In order to bring these ideas to life, the Dutch Blockchain Coalition (DBC) and the Ministry of Infrastructure and Water Management (I&W) have composed 5 use cases as concrete scenarios for the community to collaborate on, as an opportunity for bringing the ideas and underlying technologies to life within the Dutch mobility system. These cases, when well executed, could be front runner examples within Europe and the rest of the world. Focusing on governance, interoperability and international open standards.

  1. Open Mobility Trust Network
  2. Personal Data Ownership & Mobility
  3. Parking for Shared Cars
  4. Vehicle Passports & EU Supply Chain Law
  5. Seamless EV Charging & Local Green Energy

The use cases are described in this document. The objective is to start one or more pilots after the summer. The DBC and the Ministry of I&W will act as facilitators and matchmakers to bring these ideas to life together with interested parties. The ministry and DBC are aiming to make this international showcases. We are looking for organizations that want to be frontrunners and see the opportunities of collaborating on these use cases. This can result in interesting commercial opportunities. This should be a joint effort and participating organizations are expected to invest in kind and in cash. The exact scope, duration, budget and financing thereof will be agreed upon with all participating parties during the intake phase.

Your feedback - Blockchain & Mobility Pilot Use Cases

Using the link above, we invite you to inform us if you are interested in these use cases, if your organization is interested in participating, how your organization can contribute and any other input that may enrich the use cases. If you are interested but not able to participate, we would also like to know that. The deadline for indicating your interest is August 27th. Beginning of September, we will get in contact with the interested parties and start an intake phase. On September 9th we will organize an online community meeting to inform everybody on the status.

If you have any questions, you can contact Harmen van der Kooij and Doortje Koster (please copy both because of holiday period).
