Yvo Hunink is new Theme Lead Energy and Sustainability

The DBC is pleased to welcome Yvo Hunink as the new lead of the Energy and Sustainability theme. Yvo has been involved in the subject of energy and sustainability for years, among others in the field of decentralised energy networks, as founder of Energy Bazaar and later for the Living Lab Scheveningen of the Municipality of The Hague. He has also initiated various innovation projects on self-sovereign identity, and created the digital identity track at The Hague University's blockchain minor.

For the DBC, Yvo will explore the current challenges in the theme that the coalition partners and society are facing, determine the possible value added by decentralised technologies to those challenges, and establish new collaborations around them.

In order to have a liveable earth in 2050 or earlier, a major effort must be made to redesign our energy supply. Together with knowledge institutions, businesses, and the government, the DBC wants to accelerate the energy transition.

In complex systems such as those existing and upcoming in the energy and sustainability domain, blockchain and related technologies can be an important key. For example, it can support secure and reliable information exchange, record and automate agreements and also secure financial models within them.

At the moment, The DBC is already working with various parties within this theme on use cases such as the future-proof design of biofuel chains.

Would you also like to contribute to scalable and responsible solutions for our energy and sustainability goals? If so, please contact Yvo at yvo.hunink@dutchblockchaincoalition.org.
